July 13: Create your own magic wand

As part of its month-long Wizarding World celebration in honor of “Harry Potter,” the Dallas Public Library is offering visitors the chance to craft their own wizarding wand. All supplies are provided on a first come, first served basis. The program will take place at the Forest Green Branch Library and is sponsored by the Friends of the Dallas Public Library. 4-5 p.m. Free. July 16: rock out to some heavy metal music

O’Riley’s Bar and Grill hosts Symphony of Deth, a Megadeth tribute band. July 17: Follow the birds on a guided tour

Jake Poinsett, program manager at the Trinity River Audubon Center, leads an off-the-beaten-path guided birding walk at the Dallas Arboretum. Those who attend may see various birds using plants on site. Participants are advised to bring water and walking shoes. 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Free. July 17: See the Allmost Brothers live

The Allmost Brothers, a tribute to Allman Brothers Band, will perform at the Granada Theater on July 19. The rock group Allman Brothers Band is known for their songs, including “Blue Sky”, “Midnight Rider”, “Whipping Post” and “Ramblin’ Man”. The Allmost Brothers have been performing for over 45 years, with individual members with professional touring experience. Tickets are available online. 8 p.m. $16-$20. July 24: Decorate Christmas cookies in July

The Dallas Arboretum is partnering with Jessica’s Bake Shop for a beginner’s cookie decorating class. The event takes place in the A Tasteful Place location of the Arboretum. Attendees can decorate and take home six “Christmas in July” sugar cookies while learning how to make and bake sugar cookie dough, according to the event description. 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. $39 to $49. July 27: Feel funky at the Granada Theater

Houston-based R&B group The Suffers will perform at the Granada Theater on July 27 as part of a nationwide tour.
