Trevor, the shepherd of good times…
If Trevor killed himself, it would be ironic because those close to him called him the Shephard of good times, a hugger, and the world’s greatest entertainer. The lead singer was the co-founder of “The Black Dahlia Murder”, a band formed in 2001.
The Black Dahlia Murder were one of the first death metal bands I listened to and truly a band that changed the way I viewed heavy music at a very young age –

The band was formed in Waterford, Michigan. While the lineup changed several times, Strnad and guitarist Brian Eschbach acted as the last remaining original members until Trevor’s death today. FYI, the band’s name comes from the unsolved 1947 murder of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short.
Trevor has released nine albums with the band including their 2003 debut LP “Unhallowed” on Metal Blade Records. The group’s latest album “Verminous” was released in 2020. The group released all of these nine albums within two years. Here is a list of all albums released by the band:
The Black Dahlia Murder was my gateway into death metal and Trevor’s talent, giant personality, love and knowledge of the genre made him someone I have truly always respected and admired. Rest in peace Trevor Strnad.

For Trevor, “The Black Dahlia Murder” was an ever-evolving entity, and referred to their latest album “Verminous” as the biggest evolutionary leap the band has taken. He said in an interview that:
Has there ever been a better death metal lyricist than Trevor Strnad? I really don’t think so. He was the ultimate storyteller, a guy who could step into a person’s shoes and tell his twisted stories with a level of eloquence that belied the grisly details. The goat.

“It’s a very colourful, brooding and charismatic album that experiments with new sounds and new ideas without losing the unforgiving side of Black Dahlia. There are a lot of minutiae to digest. Many delicious little Easter eggs are woven into the fabric of each song. Each is a living, breathing entity that will stand out as some of the best music this band has ever created… We want an album to feel like a wild ride. A journey from start to finish that has ups and downs.
The Black Dahlia Murder had to turn behind Verminous this next August. However, the band would also release a Yule ‘Em All live DVD on July 1 through Metal Blade. There is no update on upcoming plans as the band mourns the death of a charismatic artist. It’s really a sad day today!
