Frontiers Music Srl will release on January 28 the new studio album, Katharsis, by longtime British hard rockers Praying Mantis. This will be their 12th studio album and will see the band progressing steadily since the sound signatures of their last release, Gravity.

Fans can get a taste of the band’s new music with the release of the single and video “Closer To Heaven”. See the video below, and pre-order / record Katharsis on CD / LP / Digital, here.

Katharsis features the same line-up that was featured on the previous two albums, with vocalist John ‘Jaycee’ Cuijpers and drummer Hans in ‘t Zandt cementing themselves as part of the group’s continuing legacy. The two really gave a new dimension to the writing process and the musical performances delivered by the band. Along with founding members Tino and Chris Troy and guitarist Andy Burgess, who has been with the band since 2008, they were instrumental not only in writing the new songs, but also in bringing a new vision to the band. sound engineering and production.

To hear and see the band now, fans will experience both the spirit and the energy of the early ’80s with a technical flair that brings the band into the modern era.

Praying Mantis are now a well established group of melodic hard rockers. Formed by brothers Tino and Chris Troy in 1973, with bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon and others, they spearheaded the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) movement. While they did not have the same dizzying success as some of their contemporaries, Praying Mantis has nonetheless become one of the most influential groups in the NWOBHM. The band have remained active over the years and continue to record and perform regularly live, while evolving their style from their early days into a more melodic hard rock style.
